It’s Time To Get Outside and In That Garden

Hello, gardening friends in the Triangle of NC! Planting, updating and grass mowing season is upon us. Last frost has likely happened, and whatever might occur upcoming, you can protect any new plants with a pot and towel overtop for that night. Now- Update: none of those expired seeds sprouted over 2.5 weeks. 6 different plants. It was a hope upon hope situation since most were past their expiry date so they were likely too dry. In any case, I have NEW basil seeds planted in newer potting soil. And planted more oregano. Not sure if I wanted to transfer my older oregano. We’ll see. Today I’ve been hard at work managing my pawpaw trees. After 2.5 hours, I have 98% finished what needed to be done for bigger paw paw: new border (edge) dug, more newspaper down on expanded area, fresh mulch on top, cage poles put in. The wire mesh I got to wrap was not long enough….
So I’ll have to get a longer version. Here’s to hoping that the 5ft new + leftover 3ft from the Asian Pear cage will be enough for the smaller pawpaw tree. I think it should be since its branches aren’t as wide. I will share pics (before, during, final) when the PawPaw cages are finished!
